Fees and Membership

Road Scholars programs are available to non-profit organizations planning free, public events. Programs are designed for adult out-of-school audiences. Programs are not available for private meetings/events or fundraising activities.

Program Fees
Scholar/author discussions and musical performances:

  • $100 for current organizational members of FHC
  • $175 for non-members (includes one-year organizational membership to FHC)

Chautauqua performances:

  • $150 for current organizational members of FHC
  • $225 for non-members (includes one-year organizational membership to FHC)

FHC Membership
A current FHC organizational membership at the $75 level is required for each organization (including individual library branches) hosting a Road Scholars program.

Organizational member benefits include:

  • Eligibility to host a Road Scholars program
  • Annual subscription to FHC's FORUM magazine and e-newsletter
  • Postcard notices of FHC-sponsored activities in your area, including all Road Scholars programs
  • E-mail notices of FHC news & events, including all Road Scholars programs
  • Recognition in FHC's Annual Report

Cancellations and Changes
If a sponsoring organization cancels a Road Scholars program less than six (6) weeks prior to the scheduled date, FHC charges a $50 penalty fee. This fee helps offset FHC's costs for printing and mailing publicity postcards, and other administrative expenses. When applicable, FHC refunds the program fee (minus the $50 penalty) to the sponsor's credit card.

If a sponsoring organization changes the time, date or location of a Road Scholars program less than six (6) weeks prior to the scheduled date, FHC charges a $25 penalty fee. This fee helps offset FHC's costs for printing and mailing publicity postcards, and other administrative expenses. When applicable, the $25 penalty fee (in addition to the program fee) is automatically charged to the sponsor's credit card.
