Eligibility:

FHC summer seminars are open to any K-12 teacher, media specialist, guidance counselor, or administrator at a public or private Florida school.

Application Process:

Participants are chosen by competitive application, and limited to 30 per seminar. To apply you must complete an on-line application and essay, (Link coming soon).  Your application will be electronically submitted.  The application deadline is March 2, 2010.

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • how the seminar will benefit you professionally
  • how the seminar will benefit your students
  • how your personal and professional background will enrich discussions and collaborations with seminar colleagues.

Notification Process:

All applicants will receive notice of their acceptance status via e-mail by April 7, 2010.  Accepted applicants must accept or decline their seminar placement by 5:00 p.m. on April 10, 2010 or their place will be awarded to an alternate. Note: you must supply FHC with an email address you check regularly in order to receive timely notification of your acceptance status.

Confirmed participants will receive detailed information about their seminar no later than 4 weeks in advance of the seminar start date.

Costs:

  • First-time Participant:
After submission of a $50 nonrefundable registration fee, FHC will cover all seminar costs for participants, including lodging, meals, and all books and materials.  Upon successful completion of the seminar, your $50 nonrefundable registration fee will be transferred to a one-year FHC membership.

  • Subsequent Seminar Attendance:
As a continued recognition of high-caliber teachers, FHC invites alumni of its summer seminars to attend subsequent seminars for a cost share fee of $600.  FHC will reserve five spaces per seminar for FHC alumni and applicants will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

To register as an alumnus for a summer seminar, simply complete the on-line application form by the deadline, making sure to choose “alumnus” from the participant description field. You will be notified of your successful placement in the seminar of your choice following the regular application deadline, at which time you will be asked to submit your $600 registration fee.
