Mini grants of up to $2,000 are currently available to library systems who have previously implemented a FHC-sponsored PrimeTime Family Reading Time program and who are in need of additional funds to support repeat programs.

Programs may occur at any library branch within the library system but must utilize trained PrimeTime team members. Programs must be 6-weeks in length and can be presented in either English or as a bilingual Spanish/English program.

Grant funds may cover any program costs including stipends and travel reimbursement for scholar, storyteller, community organizer and/or pre-school coordinator; program books; family transportation costs; and miscellaneous program expenses such as gift books and pre-school supplies. Funds may not be expended on food.

To Apply for Funding:

Submit a letter of intent on library letterhead indicating the following items:

  • proposed dates and location of repeat PrimeTime program
  • names of all PrimeTime team members including library coordinator, scholar and storyteller
  • target audience and plans for recruiting families
  • partner agencies who will assist with program implementation and/or family recruitment
  • total program budget and detail of how grant funds will be expended

Libraries may be awarded only one mini-grant per 12-month period and grant recipients are required to complete and submit to FHC all final PrimeTime reports within 4 weeks of program completion.

Applicants will be notified in writing of funding decisions approximately two weeks after deadline.
