Tallahassee Festival of Books & Writers Conference: "Books Make a Difference"


Authors will present 15-minute speeches on "Writing the Murky Waters: How Our Waterways Are in Trouble," followed by a 15- minute question/answer period. The panel of authors will be moderated by Nancy Caire Miller of Tallahassee's TAPP (Think About Personal Pollution) and advocate for the protection of water resources. Time magazine correspondent Mike Grunwald will talk about his award-winning book, "The Swamp: The Everglades, Florida, and the Politics of Paradise." Florida Trend senior writer Cynthia Barnett will discuss her award-winning book, "Mirage: Florida and the Vanishing Water of the Eastern U.S." Naturalist Doug Alderson willl talk about his books, "New Dawn for the Kissimmee River: Orlando to Lake Okeechobee by Kayak" and "Waters Less Traveled." The day-long book festival consists of panel discussions with author readings and book signings, new and used book sales, arts and crafts, street magicians, and more.
